Seminars

In addition to providing litigation consultation and support, the Center for Forensic Economic Studies presents seminars to law firms, bar associations, claims departments and other groups. In many states, in-house seminars may be accredited for continuing legal education credit hours.

To arrange for a program at your firm or office or to obtain a list of upcoming seminars, contact Howard Gibson at the Center for Forensic Economic Studies, 1 800 966-6099, or hgibson@cfes.com

Here are some popular Center seminar topics:

Economic Damages in Employment Actions. The basic principles of damages in employment actions, how damages in employment actions differ from damages in personal-injury matters, what you will need to quantify damages and how best to present the damages case.

Understanding Economic Damages in Personal Injury/Wrongful Death. A program on the basics of economic damages in personal injury matters -- the basic damages formula, what to gather in discovery, how to put together your damages argument and how to present that argument in settlement negotiations and in court.

Commercial Damages Analysis: Basic Economic Concepts for the Attorney gives the practicing attorney a basic working knowledge of the analysis of economic damages in commercial disputes. It includes an overview of pertinent economic and accounting concepts, a list of sources of evidence and a general introduction to economic analysis.

Mock Trials. The Center frequently presents mock trials designed to give participants intensive training in case preparation and presentation. Center principals act as expert witnesses in mock trials. Center president Jerome M. Staller, Ph.D., wrote the economic-damages portion of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy's advanced case file Polisi v. Clark and Parker & Gould, a hypothetical sexual-harassment case famous to many clinical law students.

Programs on other topics involving the application of economic and statistical analysis to litigation or other areas can be arranged. Contact Howard Gibson at the Center to discuss a presentation tailored to the needs of your firm or organization. Phone 1 800 966-6099, or e-mail to hgibson@cfes.com.
